A Bit of History About Myself
I was born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam. When the United States dropped the immgration
restriction, my mother YLan and I were some of the first people to stand outside
the embassy to apply for my student visa. In 1995, I waved goodbye to
my mother and relocated to Southern California to live with my aunt, Huong
and her husband, Huyen. Both of them are highly educated and they helped
me academically and financially throughtout the years I was living with
them.
During my adolescence, my hobbies included reading, playing bastketball, and
spending time in public library (where I spent my time learning how to write C++ applications on
pieces of notebook paper). Although I never had a chance to compile these sheets of
code, I knew then and there what my future profession was to be. I graduated from
Venice High School in 1998 and received a scholarship to attend California
State University of Long Beach, where I majored in Computer Science.
My first job was at the university's Computer Lab, where I was responsible for the maintainence
of the university's website, the assistance of computer users, and occasionally retrieiving
floopy disks from CD slots for fellow absent-minded students.
More Recently
After my graduation, I was employed by Nutechmart Inc., an Internet
company specializing in e-commerce and search engine optimization for small- to medium-size businesses.
In 2004, I joined Luminous Studios as a full time web developer. Presented with the opportunity
to work with some of the brightest people in the industry, I learned to effectively apply my web
programming skills to their fullest potential, providing technological solutions to businesses of
all sizes. Within 6 months of employment, I was promoted to Lead Developer and completed the code for
a full-scale enterprise CMS (Content Management System) software, implemented and self-managed by
many websites.
In 2005, I was placed in charge of managing the company's Automation Division where I assisted in the
development and implementation of large-scale Intranet and CRM
(Customer Relations Management) suites, serving some of the leading companies in various industries
such as Real Estate, Insurance/Mortgage, Warehouse/Resale, Engineering, Nightlife/Entertainment, and more.
